Colorado Rush in Under-19 Boys age group following Sereno disqualification

Sereno 89 White, Under-19 Boys soccer team from Arizona, has been disqualified from the 2008 US Youth Soccer National Championships, scheduled to be played next week, July 22-27 in North Little Rock, Ark. Effective immediately the team has been removed due to being suspended from all soccer activity with the Arizona Youth Soccer Association.

Replacing Sereno will be Colorado Rush Nike, who lost to Sereno in penalty kicks at the recently completed 2008 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships in Honolulu, HI.

Based on a meeting held Saturday, July 12, 2008 by AYSA with members of Sereno Soccer Club the allegations of impropriety were confirmed.

Due to the verification of the falsification of the drop forms, two Arizona Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) Bylaws were violated;

Bylaw 204- General Responsibilities-Section 1, (a) that states "falsification of records shall be grounds for removal from future participation and/or membership in this Association";   also under Bylaw 204 it states "that any person found guilty of violating the Bylaw, polices and procedures of this Association may be asked to appear before the Board of Directors in order to explain his/her actions".

Bylaw 805- Player Release and Transfer/Special Transfer- Section 4 that states "A player may be released from a team by the coach only if the player is unable to play for one of the following reasons;
(a) The player has violated rules of the US Soccer, US Youth Soccer or the AYSA;
(b) The player has moved beyond a reasonable travel distance; the determination of “reasonable travel distance is subject to definition by the AYSA; and or
(c) the player is injured in such a manner that the player will not be able to participate for the remainder of the season."

Based on information contained in the grievance and disclosures made by Sereno, the allegations were confirmed.

AYSA will be conducting a further investigation into the practices of Sereno Soccer Club and could further include the suspension of individuals, teams or the club itself.
